New release from Germany's Lyriel continues the bands mix of folk and metal. Beginning with Paranoid Circus 2010 and then Leverage from 2012 the band has placed more emphasis on metal than their earlier works. Skin and Bones goes a step further and while the songs are heavier the violin and cello remind us that this is still Lyriel. The vocals have more passion and the entire record flows very well. On Black and White they even mix in some death vocals. As a bonus track you get the version without. Only 1 song in German this time around and only a couple ballads. If you liked Leverage, you will love this record. I noticed that they have toured with Xandria and Stream of Passion in Europe. Their new direction is exciting and original and maybe one day we can see them in the US.
