As my headline states, I seldom read fiction, but needed an escape from the daily grind in business, emails, spreadsheets, and chaos. Headed to the Carolinas for vacation, while living just off the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, this book was exactly what I needed.....or was it?Opened the book up while my toes where digging in to the sand, sitting under the umbrella on a SC beach on a Tuesday afternoon....I began turning pages wondering if reading something like this would work out. Needless to say, my wife and young grown kids had to pull me off the beach around 6 pm to go out to dinner. Having just finished my reserved amount of obligatory beers for the day, and making my way through much of novel. The slow walk to the house from the beach was filled with an inner smile about the satisfying day...especially knowing I get to do it again tomorrow. The next day was even better.....that was, until I finished the book. Sad that the story was now over, I opened my final beer for the day. While covering up from hours under sun and wind, I thought to myself.... this would make a great screenplay. The intertwined threads woven from the local settings, corporate world, friendships both broken and restored, greed, history, deception, and more....created a page turning story, wondering where and how this will end.The beers just did not go down the same way on the days following. The author provided me a new outlook on what to read. I am glad I did not choose a book by its (fiction)cover. Enjoy!!
