Approximately 521 - 252 Million Years Old
The name Trilobite means three lobed and refers to the main axial lobe which is flanked by side-ribs on the left and right, not the head, thorax, and tail that one might assume. They were one of the most common creatures of the Paleozoic era and went extinct before dinosaurs ever appeared. Their exoskeletons lent themselves easily to fossilization due to the high calcite content. Each family has distinct variations- so you can pick out one or a few that match your fossil style.
Paralajurus is a genus of trilobites—those ancient, bug-like sea creatures that lived hundreds of millions of years ago. This particular type likely dates back to the Devonian period and was unearthed in Morocco, a hotspot for amazing trilobite fossils. Like other trilobites, Paralajurus crawled around the sea floor, probably scavenging for food—but who knows? Maybe it just liked hanging out at the bottom with the corals and shells. It’s got that classic trilobite look, with a segmented body and distinct ridges. Though not as flashy as some of the showier species like Hollardops, it has a unique, timeless appeal. It’s a solid pick for any fossil fan, thanks to its detail and ancient origins.
