Chalcopyrite, also known as Peacock Ore, is a copper iron sulfide mineral with a metallic luster and a brassy yellow color. When exposed to oxidation, it develops iridescent hues of purple, blue, green, and gold, resembling a peacock’s feathers—hence the name. It is a primary copper ore and is often mistaken for pyrite or bornite. The name Chalcopyrite originates from the Greek words “chalkos,” meaning copper, and “pyrites,” meaning strike fire, referring to its historical use as a striking material to produce sparks for starting fires.
According to metaphysics: Chalcopyrite is a stone of creativity, adaptability, and innovation. It fosters new friendships and aids in locating lost items (never lose your keys again!). When life feels routine, it stimulates fresh ideas and the creative process. Additionally, it helps overcome fear of failure and boosts self-esteem. Chalcopyrite also enhances spiritual communication and supports meditation.
