Featured Specimens: Callicore cynosura (BD Butterfly) & Diaethria clymena (89 Butterfly)
Location: San Francisco

Prepare to be enchanted by two beauties from the Nymphalidae family: the BD Butterfly (Callicore cynosura) and the 89 Butterfly (Diaethria clymena)! Both species are renowned for their striking hindwing patterns. The BD Butterfly, native to the Amazonian region, sports markings resembling the letters "B" and "D" on its underside, complemented by a vivid cherry-red and orange pattern on its upperside, and boasts a wingspan of about 1.8 inches. the 89 Butterfly, found fluttering through tropical forests from Mexico to Argentina and Paraguay, features intricate black-and-white patterns forming "89" or "88" on its hindwings, with velvety black uppersides accented by electric blue or red bands, and a smaller wingspan of 1-1.5 inches.  Both species thrive in lush rainforests and are considered symbols of good luck in various cultures, captivating all who encounter their unique designs.
