The late Ernie Carson presented traditional jazz the way it was meant to be played. Spontaneous solos, improvisations by talented side-men and some vocals with amusing lyrics. These are qualities lacking in the music found on MTV and the currently popular rock bands that present some of the world's most forgettable sounds. An over amplified electric guitar, string bass, and sweaty drummer in a T-shirt do not constitute a musical group to be taken seriously.
