I'd have to agree with the other reviewers that Wooden Bones is a really nice offering from this band. I disagree with the assertion that there are "weak songs" on this album. Music appreciation is so subjective- what appeals to you depends on what you're looking for. This is Indie Rock and that means you'll get some pop, you'll get some ballads, some guitar driven rock, you'll get some artsy moments- it's a mixed bag. And that is how it should be. I like this band and I will be interested to see what they produce in the future.Track 1: "Light You Up" is a great tune, with Clark's vocals sounding reminiscent of Bono here, which could never be a bad thing... Track 2: "Put The Phone Down" could be an anthem for their generation, and the fact that the vocals are a wee bit whiny is apropos...Track 3: "Bluff" is a good tune, which reminds me of In Flight Safety, another Canadian Indie Rock band.Track 4: "Ain't No Life" is one of my favorite tunes on this album.Track 5: "Up On The Bridge" is a nice, slow ballad. Want rock all the time? Hit the skip button. I love this song.Track 6: "Where Does It Begin?" has some great licks. Another fave on the album.Track 7: "What Is Real, What Is Doubt" Contemplation really can have a contemporary face, and it can sound good, too.Track 8: "Today I Feel Sure" showcases the lyrics and makes me think of Snow Patrol- happily.Track 9: "Midnight Fires" is just good, pure Indie Rock.Track 10: "Wooden Bones" is the title track for a reason. Best one on the album. And I love these lines:"When all of this descended into ashWhat did they do, did they do with the guns and cash?"Track 11: "Open Arms" is the closing track. I'm so glad that these lines repeat until the end, and I'm hoping that you, too, will find yourself singing them after the music is over."Our lives are fading thingsHey brother, are you out there? My hope's alive withinHey brother, are you out there?"
