Pittsburgh-based stalwarts the Clarks have released their first studio disc in 5 years and the result is their best effort since 2000's 'Let It Go."'Feathers & Bones' finds the band picking-up where it left off with 2009's Americana-tinged 'Restless Days.' The result is a more cohesive effort brimming with creative songwriting, interesting melodies, and an enthusiasm that seemed to be lacking in their previous release. All delivered with vocalist Scott Blasey's unique voice and phrasing.Although the band has drifted away somewhat from the raucous sound of prior records, such as the aforementioned 'Let It Go,' and 2002's 'Another Happy Ending,' 'Feathers & Bones' is a perfect balance of blue-collar, roll-up your sleeves heartland rock, acoustic balladry, and various stylistic influences that reflect a band still evolving and growing after more than 25 years together.
