I enjoy this series. My main complaint about this book was the number of characters--I couldn't keep them all straight! The story revolves around a large, ne'er do well family, the Oxley's, and members of their extended family, which has a different name. I gave up trying to keep track of how they were related, much less trying to keep the individual characters straight. I kept finding myself asking: "Wait, who's this again?"The pace of the books is always good--they keep me interested and are difficult to put down. I also enjoyed the back story of the building of the railway tunnels and the deplorable conditions the laborers lived in. I like how these stories take events in the past and tie them to events happening in present day. So far all of the books I've read in this series contain this element. It is interesting history combined with modern day policing. All in all, a good read!
