Have you ever wanted to know what goes on inside the mind of an eating disorder patient? More importantly, how and why support systems and medical systems fail them at base levels? This is the book for you. I don't recommend it for a currently suffering patient, however, as it may be very triggering. I do recommend it for family, friends and others trying to help those recover. Serena's voice is deeply intelligent, connected and clear. It describes the cycle of struggle within the main character of Pallas, named after the Pallas Cat, most commonly known by the portrayal of the Cheshire Cat in Alice and Wonderland. The editing could be better, but the book engrosses you to the point where small errors do not matter. If you have ever known anyone that struggles with an eating disorder, you will likely cry a lot while reading this. I recommend it because it is a precipice between life and death, and a cry for help that is so loud, it deafens you and makes you read between the lines with your other heightened senses. Reading this book may help you help others with ED. That in and of itself makes it worth reading.
