I was first introduced to David Wood through his Dane Maddock Adventure series and started this origins series after the fact. I almost didn't bother to read Freedom because of the negative reviews. But the more reviews I read the more I realized there are those who read "fiction" and expect it to adhere to "non-fiction" rules. I'm not that type of reader; I just want a good story, and Mr. Wood really delivered with Freedom. It gives the reader an introduction to how Dane and Bones became the team they are in the other books, and delivers a story line that makes you want to read non-stop from beginning to the end. The story line, while purely fiction, almost makes you believe things happened exactly as written. If you want to dissect the story for every historically inaccurate item you can find, you will not enjoy the story and are probably better off just leaving it alone. But if you are like me, and just want an exciting story that brings you into the action, you should give this one a try.
