Description

A perfect combo of all that glitters! These unique and wonderous specimens a the perfect exclamation point to your mineral collection.

Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in Earth's continental crust, after feldspar. Quartz is an igneous rock composed of oxygen and silicon atoms that crystallizes around magma or hydrothermal vents. It is the most abundant mineral on planet earth and can be found in the form of points, masses, grains, prisms, and even threaded. Quartz was first recorded in 300 B.C. by Theophrastus and was given the name kristallos. The origin comes from the word “ice” signifying the ancient belief that Quartz was encapsulated in ice. The modern name, Quartz Crystal, comes from the German word "quartz" meaning "hard" and the Ancient Greek word "kruos" meaning "icy cold"

Sphalerite is zinc sulfide, an ore of zinc. The name comes from the Greek "sphaleros,” meaning treacherous, in reference to how easy it is to mistake the darker varieties for galena, a lead ore. A tricky one indeed...

Peacock ore, as known as bornite, is a common copper ore mineral and often mistaken for pyrite. This mineral is naturally brown or coppery red and tarnishes to bright teals to deep purples giving it the name peacock copper or peacock ore. This specimen makes a nice display piece either solo or with a collection. It's bright colors will steal the show!.

All crystals and minerals vary slightly in size and shape. You will receive a high quality specimen of the selected item but not the exact one pictured.
