One of the most iconic fish in the sea is this self "inflating" tuff guy. When frightened, Blowfish puff themselves by quickly gulping lots of water which makes them expand like a balloon. The scales of this fish are modified into long spines, which generally lie flat against the body. As the blowfish puffs up, the spines on the skin stick straight out. Not only are their spines super sharp but their puffed up sizes tells other fish to back off. They have pretty much perfected the art of flexing.
It generally feeds on algae or small invertebrates, using its infamous spikes as a defense mechanism as opposed to a predatory tool.
This odd little taxidermy curio makes a great conversation piece!
