I was hooked on this book immediately after meeting the quirky, colorful Norton in his Guilford home. The characters in this book are so rich in personality! I found myself smiling and laughing with a mixture of disbelief and familiarity, as I became part of their world.Emily serves as the first-person guide throughout this novel and you will experience her victories, struggles, thoughts, and growth, while tackling questions of western medicine, spirituality, religion, cancer, sexuality, and even sexual abuse..all wrapped up in the conundrum of family. I laughed and cried and felt a great amount of pride for the city of Baltimore! I highly recommend this book for Baltimoreans, medical interns, and anybody (which should be everybody) looking for a bit of magic.
