The Millepede Spider Shell (Lambis millepeda) is a species of large sea snail in the family Strombidae, known for its striking and intricate shell. The shell features elongated, curved spines or "fingers" that extend from the outer lip, resembling the legs of a millipede or spider. Its coloration varies, typically displaying shades of brown, orange, and cream, with intricate patterns and a glossy surface.
Found in the Indo-Pacific region, the Millepede Spider Shell inhabits sandy and muddy substrates, often near coral reefs and in shallow lagoons. These snails are herbivorous, primarily feeding on algae and detritus.
