A little slow to get into and the two dimensional portrayal of the characters paints a grim view of mankind that is difficult to identify with most of the time but it reinforces the book's themes of power, control and destruction.The plot stumbles around for the first half of the book but finds its way best through many layers of unfolding and overlapping metaphors that pick up speed along with the plot in the second half of the book.
